She has maintained her interest in information technology, continuously updating her computer skills to automate and facilitate all her work and train others around her with their work processes, especially in Microsoft Office applications and QuickBooks.
Her professional work experience included that of more than 7 years of public accounting, working for Duff Kitchel and Company, a CPA firm in the Galleria area, assisting clients with updating their accounting records, financial reporting needs, including fixed assets updates, financial planning and reporting, budget forecasting, special projects, and preparation of federal and state tax returns.
She was also an office manager at EZ Line Pipe Support, a manufacturing company in Manvel, Texas, supporting the owner and upper management in daily business decisions, accounting department, and HR.
With a passion in helping others improve and update their computer skills, she has started XLN CompuTrain, a computer training center that focuses on small business owners and corporate employee on learning and improving their computer skills in applications where she sees they need the most in their daily work process and maintenance of keeping good records.
After months in the business, she added on the tutoring program for students, ages 5 and up, on academic subjects such as math, language arts, science, and languages.
She has over 8 years of teaching and has now added a focus in teaching English as a second language to students all over the world, online and in person. She has a high, intermediate level in Spanish, which she has been learning on her own and practicing it for three years and continues to practice it daily. She believes that in order to improve in a language, one has to practice all four skills, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. She believes that a classroom should be more of an interactive, learning environment that encourages positive social interactions among all students and teachers. She believes that a student will improve much faster by engaging in conversations and practicing all their skills in the language every day, even if they are in short increments of time.
Her hobbies for the last three years include traveling to Spain every year. She also loves teaching her seven-year-old daughter Spanish and hopes to take her there on one of her trips to learn and experience another culture in person.
